In order to upload an image to our social channels, our website, or to send it to the media, we must have permission from those in the image or the person who took the image to share.

This is important for safety reasons. As we are a charity that assists many women fleeing domestically violent situations, we have a number of volunteers who have a personal connection to these stories and must keep their identities off social media.

By law, we need to get permission for these images. If we upload an image without explicit approval from the person in the image or the person who took the image, legal action may be taken on Share the Dignity.

  • When we post to social media, try to avoid mentioning specific locations and avoid name mentions, unless we have permission to ensure the safety of those in the images.
  • Please ask all people in images to sign the photography permission form. If this is not possible when the image is taken, please verbally ask for permission for Share the Dignity to share the image on our social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter), to the website, and shared to external media promoting Share the Dignity.
  • When Sharing any photos on Workplace, please state in the caption that permission to share has been granted – If permission has not been granted, please do not share the photos.
  • Without these levels of permission, we cannot share your images.
